Wikidata lists
Hey :)
You said you'd love to help out with lists in connection with Wikidata. That's awesome! Have you already seen the queries we're collecting here? --Lydia Pintscher (WMDE) (talk) 12:19, 29 August 2012 (UTC)
Sysops
I thought I'd take the conversation here, because I felt like veering completely off-topic. :) The sysop selection process also has a major influence on the wiki. The process is geared so much toward focusing on a few bad edits that people typically completely lose sight of a substantial body of good work that a user might happen to have accumulated. A lot of the other processes, such as ArbCom and ANI proceedings, are the same way. When you get in trouble, they don't care how many featured articles you've written.
So, the system tends to encourage the promotion of people who never do anything controversial, which probably translates to mean a rather stodgy, bureaucratically-inclined mindset. Basically I think it's a system designed to promote vogons. Or to use another analogy, wikiknights rather than wikidragons. As a quintessential wikidragon, of course I find that to be a threat to my wiki-well-being; and indeed most of the wikidragons I knew are no longer there anymore.
